My new favourite app - Lifecake

For the last nine months I've been completely addicted to this brilliant app, which allows you to store your family photos and share them only with the people you want to.

I don't know about you but I've always been a bit funny about sharing too much of my family on Facebook, particularly if pictures of my son haven't been vetted by myself first so I know what privacy settings that person has.

This is where Lifecake comes in. The app allows you to upload all of  your photos stored on your computer or phone, sorts them out into chronological order and then you just share them with friends and family. Then they can browse and add their own photos, perhaps from a day you weren't there and wanted to see what they'd get up to.

The app is free on apple and android devices and you can even create your own photobooks that they'll send out to you for great keepsakes and presents.

Lots of love

I'm back

Hello everyone,

I'm so sorry I've been away for so long. Why? Well, to be totally honest life just got a bit hectic and everything that wasn't 100% necessary had to take a back seat for awhile so I could concentrate getting back into work and raising the most wonderful little boy!

I can't quite believe it but he's nearly 20 months now, walking, talking (a little bit) and being a little munchkin.

In summary though, here are a few of things I've been up to in the last nine months (and no I haven't had another baby although it's scary to think I could have...)

- Moved house: As much as London living was great for my pre-motherhood years it wasn't really the best with a walking, climbing 1 year old so we've moved out of the big smoke into proper country life in Northamptonshire

- Set up my own company: After bear was born I desperately didn't want to go back into full time work so I started my own freelance consultancy practice

- Set up another company: Because one wasn't enough... www.millyandbear.com

- Lost my grandpa: Very very sadly I lost my grandpa at the beginning of the summer. He was an incredible person and someone I was extremely close to. Something if I'm honest, I'm still trying desperately hard to get over but cry about on an almost daily basis.

The good news though is that things are calming down and I can now pick this up again because I've missed it so much! Thanks to everyone for the messages whilst I've been away, they've been lovely to read.

So look out for lots more from me over the coming weeks, months and hopefully years!

Lots of love,

Mrs W xx

Geox Little Steps

I can't quite believe it but we're almost at the one year mark with little Bear and now that he's standing confidently on his own I know it's not long before he thinks about his first steps. With that and the cold weather I've been looking at footwear for him, just for when we're out and about. So when I was invited to take a look at the new collection from Geox at the weekend, I jumped at the opportunity to learn a bit more.

Geox is an Italian brand made famous for its porous technology that allows sweat and odours out of the shoes without letting any water in. Traditionally I've always thought they were more for people my mums age but I have to say I was completely wrong. They actually have a great range of women's shoes and kids shoes!

I chose these ones for Arthur and he looks unbelievably cute in them:

It's also worth mentioning as you can't see in the image but they have a zip down the side so they're really easy to get on and you don't need to worry about the laces or ramming / wiggling their feet in.

And here's some more examples from the baby and junior range you might like:

The only other thing I'd say is that they're not cheap with prices ranging from around £47 right up to £80, and £20 for slippers. However, for me they were worth it because they're the kind I want to keep and remember when he's married and left home.

My favourite Xmas jumpers for boys

So with December well under way I couldn’t help myself and started getting excited about what I’m going to be dressing little man in this year.

First on my shopping list is without doubt the obligatory Christmas jumper, and here are my fav’s from this year’s selection:

Jojo Maman Bebe

In all honest, no one in my opinion does it better than Jojo Maman Bebe, especially with their cashmere mix making them softer for their delicate skin:

I’ve actually just ordered the red reindeer one for Arthur this year, definitely worth the investment even if they only wear it for a couple of weeks as it’s one of those items to keep forever.

Prices start at £21 each and you can check them out for yourself here

Mamas & Papas

My second favourite is this unisex cute red hoody from Mamas & Papas, currently on sale for the amazing bargain price of £13

Made from 100% cotton this will work not only for this Xmas but also another if you have another one it doesn't matter the sex because it works for both, or even better get two if you have twins ;-).

Tesco

If you've a smaller budget then I do love this one from Tesco, because let's face it who doesn't want a xmas pudding jumper ;-).

Plus the great news is that it's on sale for only £5 so be quick!

George at Asda

Of if Disney is more your thing, I also love this one from George at Asda. Also for a Disney jumper it's actually quite smart and has cute little elbow pads.

And... it's another bargain at just £10.

Littlewoods

Finally I had to include this one just because I love the style of it, it's just really cheeky chappy.

It's also very reasonably priced at £12 plus it's made from cotton so will be nice on your little one without them risking over heating.

This list is definitely not exhaustive though so please fill me in on your favourites and pictures of your little ones wearing them! I'm loving the festive spirit so join in!

Happy Xmas

JoJo Maman Bebe’s New Evening Collection for Winter 2013

I’ve just received word that one of my favourite baby and maternity brand’s has just launched their new evening wear collection for the Xmas party season.

There will be six styles for gorgeous mummy’s to be to try out including their lace shift dress from last year in a new red wine shade as well as the fail safe classic black.

There’s also sequin and beading detail for a glam feel to their midnight blue and classic black dresses. Plus there’s lot’s of long sleeves, phew, in sheer fabrics, allowing the dresses to remain sexy and elegant whilst hiding those ever so attractive bingo wings.

The lovely ladies at JJMB are also still keeping it affordable (prices start at £29) and check out the whole range here.

The best walker

I don't know about anyone else but I've really struggled to find a good walker for my little man. The majority of them are way too light weight meaning they inevitably fall flat on their face and they make horrible noises which drive you slowly insane.

That was until I found this little beauty! I bought this about a month ago now and it's been used every day for hours since.

The walker itself is wooden, brightly coloured in the primary shades, and has five different activities, one on each side.

There's a shape sorter, clock for teaching older kids the time, black board, shape spinner and a music station on the top. He particularly loves the shape sorter because the wooden pieces are the perfect size for his little hands whilst being too big (I hope) to choke on.

However the best aspect for me is that because it's self assembly you can really tighten the screws and lock the wheels into place. So when he pulls himself up or leans on it, it doesn't run away with him.

Since he's started cruising though I've loosened them slightly so that he can practice walking without it running away with him, as other popular models would.

It's not the cheapest walker on the market at £44.99 from Mothercare but I'm so glad I invested in this over a cheap, plastic noisy version.

Fabulous Toy Boxes

When you live in quite a small London flat trying to keep clutter down to a minimum is really difficult, particularly when you don't have room for a big toy box. That's why I'm loving these!

They're apple crates from Plant a Box which you can personalise to your little one! You can add wheels, a lid, stencilling, and a blackboard.

Plus they come in a great range of colours that you can mix and match. I've just ordered some green and cream ones with little W's name one that look great stacked against the wall.

Priced at £34.95 for the basic box without extras doesn't make them the cheapest option but as a box that can later be used for keepsakes for your little one, I absolutely love them!
